Kate Winslet and Sofia Vergara rule the red carpet at 2011 Emmy Awards

Oscar winner Kate Winslet and actress Sofia Vergara ruled the red carpet at the 2011 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles Sept. 18, sporting glamorous, skin-tight gowns that showed off their luscious curves.

Kate Once Weighed 200 Lbs. & Abused Diet Pills

The 5'6" Winslet, who once topped the scales at 200 pounds, looked fit and shapely in a body-hugging red Elie Saab dress. Kate, who once abused laxatives and diet pills as a teen, is now more leaner and healthier than ever, thanks to portion control and regular Pilates workouts at home.

"I just do my own stuff at home with the help of DVDs. A little bit of Pilates," Winslet, 36, has said. "And just recently I started running, but I’m not very good.

"I have cellulite, I don't go to the gym because I don't have time but I do Pilates work out DVDs for 20 minutes or more everyday at home."

Sofia Overcame Thyroid Cancer

Vergara, 39, who recently overcame thyroid cancer, was stunning in a coral one-shouldered Vera Wang gown with chiffon draping and tumbled tulle.

The 5'7" Sofia maintains her sexy 125-pound bikini body by doing a cardio toning/strength-training program and Physique 57 workouts several times a week.

"Oh, I hate [working out]!" Vergara has said. "But I also know that at my age -- I'm almost 40! -- I have to do it to maintain my figure."

Kate Winslet pays homage to Elizabeth Taylor

Aside from perhaps the go-to Marilyn Monroe costume party get-up, there may be no screen legend more fun to dress up as than Elizabeth Taylor. Even this generation’s biggest stars can appreciate the appeal. Kate Winslet graces the cover of V magazine‘s Fall 2011 “Heroes” issue with a shot that captures Taylor’s look, pearls included. “There was a real fearlessness in her,” Winslet said to the magazine.”Back then, there didn’t seem to be a rule book, and there was some expectation in terms of how glamorous a woman should look. There is sort of a coolness and aloofness to the way [Taylor] would look in posed photographs. In candid snapshots she was really quite soft, and she would really screw up her face. I do that as well.”

Kate Winslet and Lancome collaborate for charity

One of the first things Kate Winslet did after narrating the Icelandic documentary 'A Mother's Courage: Talking Back To Autism' (aka The Sunshine Boy) was to embark on book project - a compilation of self-portraits of celebrities from art and film each wearing a golden hat, having been inspired by Keli Thorsteinsson's poem 'The Golden Hat' which featured in the movie. She was so moved by the plight of the autistic child in the film that she wanted to raise money to set up a charity that would better the lives of autistic children.

Not long after that The Golden Hat Foundation, a non-profit charity, was established by Winslet with a mission to teach autistic children how to communicate more clearly, as well as offer them education, job training and recreational activities adapted to their disability.

Autism, caused by a neurological development anomaly while the brain is maturing, affects sensorial and neurological functioning. Of all the serious developmental conditions it's the one seeing the most significant global growth - 67 million people are now affected by it.

Kate's role, having established an organisation to raise awareness of the condition and help improve the lives of those who suffer from it, is to raise money for the cause. So when Lancôme suggested collaborating on a fund-raising limited edition makeup line in partnership with her, promising to donate 150,000 euros from its sales profits to the Foundation, she jumped at the opportunity: "Lancôme's instant offer of support was a huge display of confidence and generosity and I knew it would open many doors", she said.

The upshot is The Golden Hat Collection, a one-off line which comprises the basic seasonal face-making staples for partying - blusher, lipstick and nail polish - each embossed with the Golden Hat symbol and Kate's signature. The blusher comes in two light shades - sparkling pink and golden - designed to warm pale and dark skin tones, a classic hot red shade of their iconic L'Absolu Rouge lipstick and a harmonising super-glossy nail polish colour.

The Golden Hat Collection is Lancôme's after-dark look for winter 2011 - it just needs a lick of black mascara to finish it - but is only be available until December, so don't hang about.

• Golden Hat Blush Palette (£34), L'Absolu Rouge in shade 132 (£19.50) and Le Vernis in 102 (£15), is available from Selfridges on 15 October, then from Lancome stockists nationwide from 1 November.

Kate Winslet, PETA Oppose Foie Gras

Foie gras is a “luxury food” or delicacy. However, if you watched the video above, I imagine you’d rather not pay anything for it. Completely horrifying.

It is nice to see Kate Winslet joining the Pope, world-renowned chef Wolfgang Puck, PETA, and others trying to bring an end to the consumption and commercial sale of these tortured geese and ducks’ livers.

With the UK, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Italy, Israel, Norway, Luxembourg, Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, South Africa, and the Czech Republic completely banning the production of foie gras, hopefully other countries will follow suit soon.
